AUTO CAL LIMIT
Error Code System Message
Question
How do I troubleshoot this AMX-4 Series issue: “AUTO CAL LIMIT” Message Appears On The Status Display In Applications Mode?
Short Answer
In Applications Mode, This Message Indicates That One Calibration Unit Has Exceeded its Proper Range (Cannot Tell Which One). The Calibration Philosophy Is Such That Each Cal Unit (In The Generator Calibration) Depends On The Prior Cal Unit That Was Accomplished (A Confidence Building Scheme). The only Solution For This Error Is A COMPLETE Re-Calibration Of The AMX-4/4+ Unit. This Message Is Called Out In The Operators Manual, Under The “STATUS MESSAGES” Section.

BATTERY TOO HIGH
Error Code System Message
Question
How do I troubleshoot this AMX-4 Series issue: “BATTERY TOO HIGH” Message?
Short Answer
This Usually Indicates That The Unit Was Attempted To Be Operated (Rotor And Exposure) Too Soon After A Charging Cycle. In Normal Applications, When The Unit Is Unplugged, It is Normally Driven To Another Location (More Than 50 Feet), Thus Giving The Batteries Time To “Level Off”.

BATTERY TOO LOW
Error Code System Message
Question
How do I troubleshoot this AMX-4 Series issue: “BATTERY TOO LOW” Message?
Short Answer
This may indicate cell failure. Three ways to test cells/battery pack: 1) Monitor each cell under a light-load condition, rotor only. 2) Monitor each cell under a heavy load, 80 kVp at 125 mAs. Cell readings should be within 0.2 VDC of each other (for example, 11.9 to 12.1 VDC). There should be 113 VDC across the battery pack before tests 1 and 2. 3) Refer to Error 465 for the battery-pack load test. A synchronization issue is also possible. Voltmeter calibration must be accurate. Run synchronization at the end of any major unit calibration, after Battery Charger Board replacement, or if the unit was charged outside normal Applications mode (Check Sum Bypass or Diagnostics mode). Charge the unit to CHARGE COMPLETE; this updates the internal capacity meter and displayed percentage and eventually synchronizes the two.
Possible Causes
Problem: “BATTERY TOO LOW” Message
Troubleshooting Steps
This Might Indicate Possible Cell(s) Failure. There Are 3 Ways To Test Cells/Battery Pack: 1] Monitor Each Cell under A light-load Condition—Rotor Only; 2] Monitor Each Cell Under A Heavy Load — 80 kVp @ 125 mAs. Cell readings should be within 0.2 VDC Of Each Other (Ex. 11.9 VDC To 12.1 VDC). There Should Be 113 VDC Across The Battery Pack Prior To Running Tests 1 & 2 Above. 3] Also refer to ERROR 465, For The Battery Pack Load Test. This may also be a synchronization issue. The Voltmeter Calibration Has To Be Accurate In Order To Run This Test Successfully. This “Synchronizing” Routine Should Always Be Run – 1) At The End Of Any Major Unit Calibration – 2) Upon Replacement Of The Battery Charger Board – 3) If The Unit Was Charged Outside Of Normal Applications Mode (Check Sum Bypass Or Diagnostics Mode). Also refer to Problem 24, Below. Charge the unit to “CHARGE COMPLETE”. This updates both the internal capacity meter and the displayed percentage, allowing the two values to synchronize.

BATTERY TOO LOW - RECHARGE REQUIRED
Error Code System Message
BATTERY TOO LOW - RECHARGE REQUIRED
Question
What does “BATTERY TOO LOW - RECHARGE REQUIRED” mean on an AMX-Series unit?
Short Answer
It indicates the battery capacity/voltage is too low for reliable operation and the unit should be recharged before continued clinical use.
Possible Causes
Low state of charge; aged battery capacity; capacity-meter synchronization issue.
Troubleshooting Steps
Recharge the unit fully. If the message returns quickly, verify battery condition under load and check capacity-meter synchronization before replacing the battery set.
Parts Areas to Check
Battery set; capacity meter

Battery bar graph seems wrong while driving or charging
Error Code System Message
Question
How is the AMX-Series battery bar graph calculated?
Short Answer
The firmware converts battery voltage/capacity into a linear bar display, with different behavior while idle, driving, and charging.
Possible Causes
Normal bar-graph algorithm; battery aging; capacity parameter mismatch.
Troubleshooting Steps
Compare displayed capacity with actual battery condition and operating state. If capacity is persistently inaccurate, check battery-aging parameters and capacity synchronization rather than replacing batteries solely from the graph.
